Tottenham Hotspur Head Coach Tim Sherwood believes Louis van Gaal will get his wish of a post in the Premier League, ESPN
Van Gaal has publically and repeatedly stated he wants to experience life in English football after the World Cup. He is currently Coach of the Netherlands national team for the second time and having worked in Holland, Spain, with Barcelona, and Germany, with Bayern Munich, feels England should be his next stop.
As such van Gaal has been strongly linked with Sherwood’s job at White Hart Lane and the incumbent expects van Gaal will turn up in the Premier League, but says it won’t be at Tottenham.
“He is obviously destined to manage in England,” Sherwood said of van Gaal. “He has got a good track record, he is a good manager and I’m sure he’ll get his opportunity: he’s been shouting loud enough for it.
“I believe I’ll be here next year,” Sherwood added. “I’m planning for next season. These players are playing for their futures here and I want to be part of this club moving forward.”
Sherwood replaced Andre Villas-Boas in December, his first senior management job, but Spurs have lost their last three games and face an uphill battle to claim a place in the Champions League for next season.
Tottenham next face Benfica in the Europa League on Thursday, and have to turn around a 3-1 home defeat to progress to the next stage.
