Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson believes that his side are in a great position to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, according to Sky
The centre-back was adamant that the club’s aim was to finish the season within the top four as well as winning a trophy.
Spurs are currently in fifth place and are just four points behind the final Champions League qualification spot currently occupied by Manchester City.
“The top four is our aim. At the start of the season we set out our goals; to win a trophy, to be in the top four. We are still in with a great shout of doing that,” said Dawson.
The Tottenham captain also believes that Roberto Soldado will be vital in their quest to reach the Champions League places.
The Spanish striker netted his first goal in nine games against Cardiff last weekend and Dawson believes he could be making a return to scoring form.
“It was massive for Rob to get the goal,” said Dawson. “You can see what it meant for him and the fans from the celebrations. It took him a while to settle in because of the language but he is a top player and a top character,” added the 30-year-old.
Spurs will now be looking ahead to their visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday as they look to grab their first Premier league win at Chelsea.
