Louis van Gaal has again confirmed his desire to work in the Premier League once he has taken the Netherlands to the World Cup this summer, the
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be considering appointing van Gaal in place of Tim Sherwood, who took charge of the first team after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked in December.
Van Gaal has said he wants to experience football in another country, having worked in his native Holland, Spain, with Barcelona, and Germany, with Bayern Munich. England is understood to be top of his list.
“My ambition is to coach a top team in the Premier League. I have never experienced the atmosphere in England,” he told German publication Bild.
“I want to win the league title in a fourth country. That’s my objective and I want to fulfil it. Either that, or I will retire and move with my wife to Portugal. Of course, I like the Bundesliga a lot, but I have already won the German title. I now want to win a major trophy in another country.”
Van Gaal came to prominence as Coach of the Ajax side that won the Champions League in 1995 and he later won trophies at Barca and Bayern. He has been in charge of the Dutch national team since 2012, his second spell in the post.
