Arsenal will be aiming to put pressure on Everton in the face to finish fourth by ending their recent Premier League slump with a win over London rivals West Ham United.
The Gunners may have reached the FA Cup final in somewhat unconvincing fashion on Saturday, but their Premier League form over the past two months has been horrendous, with just one win in six games turning them into Champions League qualification hopefuls from league title contenders. That run, coupled with Everton’s streak of seven straight victories, makes this a must-win game for Arsene Wenger’s side.
And they are unlikely to have it all their own way against a well organised West Ham side that looks completely different to the one that was languishing in the bottom three as recently as February. They are now in a secure mid-table position, and despite losing to leaders Liverpool in their last game, the Hammers can take great credit for their performance as they were undone only by two penalties.
Wenger is likely to make changes from the Arsenal side which started against Wigan Athletic at Wembley. Wojciech Szczesny will return in goal, while Laurent Koscielny could return after a couple of weeks out with an injury. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lukas Podolski are both doubts, however.
West Ham captain Kevin Nolan faces a late fitness test due to a hamstring injury, with manager Sam Allardyce already without Joey O’Brien, Marco Borriello and George McCartney.
