Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is one of several players likely to leave Old Trafford this summer, and Atletico Madrid are keen on securing the services of the Mexican, according to the Metro.
Hernandez has endured a frustrating season, and starts have been rare despite several injuries to first-choice striking duo Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. Danny Welbeck, also above the 25-year-old in the pecking order, has been manager David Moyes’ preferred choice in their absence.
Having joined in the summer of 2010, Hernandez has often been used as an impact substitute, and it is from the bench that he has scored some hugely important goals for the club. His goal against Newcastle United recently was the 59th of his Man Utd career in his 148th appearance. Despite that impressive scoring record, he finds himself surplus to requirements.
