Welshman Gareth Bale has said he wanted to join Spanish giants Real Madrid for reasons exactly like their 5-0 aggregate win over Champion League holders Bayern Munich, reports the Telegraph.
And Bale has said playing with the likes of Ronaldo is why he chose to play for ‘the biggest club in the world’.
He said: “That’s why he’s the world’s best player. It’s an honour to play with him and to learn from him
This is why I wanted to come to the biggest club in the world – to win trophies and to play in massive games.”
The £85m signing was in splendid form in his final season for Tottenham Hotspur after repeatedly scoring vital goals for the club – notching 26 goals for the season, and after an injury plagued first half of the season has lit up the Bernabeu with 20 goals and 16 assists so far.
Bale scored a spectacular winner against Barcelona to hand Madrid their first silverware of the campaign, the Copa Del Rey, while they are still vying for the title and now in the final of the Champions League.
Bale added: “It’s an amazing feeling. At the start of the season it’s hard to imagine. We set out to try and win every competition we’re in and we’re in a great position now.”
