Chelsea midfield duo Willian and Ramires have insisted that the team must take it one game at a time as the season reaches its final climax, Sky
The two Brazilians were involved in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final first-leg and are now in a strong position to make it to a third final in seven years.
Despite the possible European glory looming ahead, the pair were adamant that the club cannot think about the result and most focus on the possible title decider against Liverpool on Sunday.
“We can’t even think much about the result in Madrid, although it wasn’t bad,” said Ramires.
“We have to focus on the Premier League.
“The fight for the title is hard but if we beat Liverpool, we can win the league.
“We are focused on both fronts.
“Our thought is that any team would like to be in our place, fighting for a place in the Champions League final and fighting for the national title.
“It’s been such decisive days that we can’t even think about the Brazilian national team call-ups.
“This shows how much we are focused.”
Willian agreed with his international team-mate and knows that a win against Liverpool will put the Blues two points behind the leaders and back in the title race.
“We have many important games ahead, we have to go step by step,” said Willian.
“A win against Liverpool will show our strength as it would be in an away game against a team that have a fantastic attack, and we will be missing players.
“Then we can focus on the second (leg) against Atletico and on the Brazilian national team call-ups.
“We have to prioritise each at a time.”
