Winger Gerard Deulofeu is looking set to stay on loan at Everton for next season after reports in Spain suggested that he had agreed a deal in principle to remain at Goodison Park, according to the Daily
Manager Roberto Martinez has continually spoken of his desire to keep Deulofeu at Everton for at least another year, and that now looks set to come to fruition.
Deulofeu was thought to be heading back to parent club Barcelona for next season after the Catalans were hit with a transfer ban, meaning players were unable to move in or out of the club. However, the deal with Everton can now go through after the ban was suspended pending an appeal.
The Spanish U-21 international has been an occasional starter for Everton this season, although most of his appearances have come as a substitute. A lively presence on the right, he has impressed in his 22 Premier League outings, scoring three goals and claiming four assists.
He could also be a crucial player in the run-in, particularly after it was confirmed that Kevin Mirallas will miss all of Everton’s remaining games this season.
