Dzeko: Title fight will go to the wire

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko believes that the Premier League title fight will continue to go to the very last game, Mcfc.com reports.

Liverpool dealt Manchester City’s title hopes a blow on Sunday with a 3-2 win at Anfield and the Merseyside club are now seven points above them.

Despite many now tipping the Reds as the favourites to win the trophy, Dzeko has said that history will repeat it itself and a club will win on the final day of the season, as City did in 2011/12 season.

“It’s too early to say if Sunday’s result will decide where the title ends up because we still have six games to play and Liverpool and Chelsea both have four left,” the 28-year old declared.

“People talk about pressure and suchlike but that doesn’t really matter – just who wins the most games between now and the end of the season.

“I firmly believe, like the last time we won the title, that it will go right to the wire despite our defeat at Anfield.”

The Manchester side still have six games to play this season, with two games in hand on Liverpool but they will need other results to go their way if they are to pull off a last gasp title win again.

Liverpool, Chelsea and City will have crucial fixtures in the next few weeks which no team can afford to drop points in, and with Chelsea and Liverpool facing each other before the end of the season it could yet turn in the favour of the sky blues.

“It was an amazing experience to win the title in 2012 but that was then, this is now and everything is different,” added Dzeko.

“We have a lot of new players and we want to win it again for our fans, the team and the Club and we have to get back on track by beating Sunderland and West Brom in the next week.”
