Giggs: I want to give the fans something to smile about again

Manchester United interim manager Ryan Giggs has said that he wants to give the fans something to smile about again following the sacking of David Moyes, The Telegraph reports.

After David Moyes’ sacking, Giggs has been placed in temporary charge for the remaining four games of the season and has a chance to prove himself as the boss.

On Friday Giggs entered his first press conference as Manchester United manager and vowed to return smiles to the faces of the fans.

“I want the players to play with passion, speed, tempo, be brave, imagination,” said Giggs.

“It’s been good, everyone is looking sharp I’ve just said to them enjoy themselves and give the fans something to smile about.”

The 40-year-old was previously a player-coach under Moyes before being promoted to the first-team coach.

The United veteran also said that managing the club is one of his proudest moments and now he is determined to bring joy to the fans of the club.

The Welshman also joked that now he had the power at the club he would give himself a new long-term contract and admitted that he would still be involved as a player.

“I’ve just given myself a five-year contract,” added Giggs. “I am using my power while I can.”
