Liverpool have identified Southampton Adam Lallana as one of their major transfer targets for this summer, where they hope to add strength and depth to their squad, according to the Daily
Lallana, who has spent his entire career at Southampton barring loan spells, has been the subject of considerable speculation throughout this season, with many rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United along with highly-rated Saints teammate Luke Shaw.
The 25-year-old is now seen by many as one of England’s top midfielders and highly likely to go to this summer’s World Cup. On Sunday, he was named in the PFA Team of the Year for the Premier League, but missed out on the Player of the Year to Luis Suarez.
Should Liverpool get their way, Suarez and Lallana will be teammates at Anfield next season, as the Reds look to sign at least five new players in preparation for their first Champions League campaign since 2009.
The intention of Liverpool is have Lallana playing in behind the front two of Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, but he is expected to command a high transfer fee after a season in which he has scored 10 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions.
