Manchester United manager David Moyes has insisted that his focus is entirely on his side’s upcoming match against Newcastle despite the upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich, according to Sky
United’s next match is Saturday’s clash against Newcastle and Moyes is concerned about gaining momentum to take the season forward.
The Red Devils battled to a vital 1-1 home draw against Bayern Munich and with the second leg approaching, United face a vital clash in their last chance for silverware this season.
“My focus is only on Newcastle. It’s important to keep trying to build some momentum and get the three points. We also have an extra day’s recovery this week, as we play Bayern on Wednesday,” said Moyes.
“The message to the players is the next game is the most important one and that’s Newcastle.”
Despite the struggling season and the criticism the 50-year-old boss has faced, he remains upbeat following the Champions League draw against the European Champions.
“It was a terrific performance and an all-round good night at Old Trafford, possibly one of the best nights I have ever been involved with in football because of the football, atmosphere and standard of opposition,” added the Scot.
“We were good tactically, a bit disappointed with the result but overall happy – although I would have preferred 0-0 than 1-1.”
