Southampton executive director Les Reed has moved to deny rumours that star duo Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw are set to leave the club this summer, ITV
Both players are reported targets of Manchester United, with some rumours suggesting over recent days that Shaw had already agreed a deal to join last season’s Premier League champions.
But former Charlton Athletic boss Reed, speaking ahead of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s press conference, claimed the club have no intention of selling Lallana and Shaw. He said: “As we stand, there have been no enquiries or offers for any of our players. That is the truth.
‘No club has been given permission to talk to any of our players. Reports that some of our players are negotiating transfers are misinformed. We want to improve the squad going forward and retain our current players.”
The England international duo, who have spent their whole careers so far with Southampton, have caught the eye this season with a series of impressive performances, helping the Saints to eighth place in the Premier League, and are both – Lallana in particular – seen as having a good chance of going to the World Cup.
