Olic flattered by Stoke interest

Wolfsburg striker Ivica Olic has said that he is ‘very proud’ to have drawn interest from Stoke but insists he is happy in Germany, Sky Sports reports.

Stoke made no secret of wanting to bring the Croatia international to the Brittania and the heavy interest caused the forward to consider his long-term future at his current club.

Despite opting to stay with Wolfsburg by signing a contract extension, Olic has thanked Stoke for their admiration of his ability.

“I have spent a lot of time weighing up both offers. I wrote a list of the pros and cons,” said Olic.

“I’m very proud of the fact that I was wanted by a club from England, but also of the fact that Wolfsburg wanted to keep me.

“The key match was against Hamburg last weekend. I felt great there. After that I said to myself, ‘Ola, that’s it, if you are 35 years old and you still enjoy it, why change things?’

“I would be very sorry to jump this ship.”

The 35-year-old admitted that he was tempted to test himself in the Premier League after spending much of his career in Germany.

In the end his loyalty for his club shone through and the forward is content to remain where he is.
