Tottenham Hotspur have denied any contact with clubs regarding possible appoints of managers or coaching staff following reports they had made an approach for Ajax manager Frank De Boer, Sky
The club are reportedly searching for a permanent successor to Andre Villas Boas – who was sacked back in September, with Tim Sherwood looking increasingly unlikely to complete the final year of his 18 month contract.
Media reports on Tuesday had claimed that Spurs had made an approach for Ajax manager De Boer last month with the manager himself also making the claim.
De Boer, who has just guided the Dutch club to their fourth straight league title since taking over in 2010, has said that Spurs did make an approach and would ‘listen and talk’ to the ‘beautiful club’.
But the Premier League club have moved to strenuously deny claims that have approach any club, Ajax or otherwise, about its coaching staff.
A statement on their club website read: “Reports that we have made approaches to other clubs regarding coaching staff are wholly inaccurate.
“We have NOT contacted any club regarding coaching appointments.
“We regret that a statement such as this is necessary, however we feel it is important to clarify matters.”
