Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has warned his players against complacency for when they take on out-of-form Newcastle United on Monday evening, the Independent
The Gunners come into the game knowing that victory would go a long way to ensuring a Champions League place for next season, and they are heavy favourites against a Newcastle side that has lost each of its last five matches, with manager Alan Pardew – who returns following a touchline ban – under increasing pressure.
But Wenger insists that his side will have to fight hard in order to take all three points and reiterated that there are no easy games. He said: “You know that Newcastle have quality, so of course we have to prepare like we will face a Premier League battle.
“The exciting thing in the Premier League is that everybody fights for every game and we have to prepare for that. We have come back [with] a better display in our offensive quality which brings confidence, so that is what we want to build on now.”
After Everton’s defeat at Southampton on Saturday, Arsenal know that they need just six more points to be sure of fourth place and yet another season in Europe’s premier competition.
