Ryan Giggs takes charge of Manchester United for the first time in Saturday’s late kick-off as last season’s Premier League champions face relegation-threatened Norwich City.
As the club’s record appearance maker and most decorated player, Giggs is certain to get a rousing reception from the Old Trafford crowd as he steps into the breach while Man Utd search for a new manager.
The Red Devils will now be looking to move on after dispensing with the services of David Moyes, the man christened the ‘Chosen One’, following a defeat at Everton which ended any remaining hopes of Champions League qualification.
While all the attention will be on the home side and how they react to Moyes’ dismissal, this is a huge game for Norwich, who could find themselves in the bottom three by the time it kicks off. New manager Neil Adams will be pleased by the fighting spirit the team has shown in his first two games in charge, but at this stage of the season it’s points that matter and the games do not get any easier from here on in.
Rafael da Silva and Robin van Persie are again set to miss out for Man Utd, are also waiting on the fitness of Patrice Evra, who missed the trip to Everton.
Norwich are likely to be without on-loan defender Joseph Yobo, who has a calf injury. Elsewhere, Elliott Bennett, who has missed almost the entire season, could be among the substitutes.
