Arsenal could make an audacious attempt to sign Bayern Munich star Javi Martinez with the player appearing to want out of the German champions, according to the Daily
The Spanish midfielder has fallen out of favour with new boss Pep Guardiola and now wants to quit at the end of the season after telling his agent to relay his wishes to the Bayern hierarchy.
The 25-year-old had become the Bundesliga’s most expensive player back in 2012 when he left Atletico Bilbao back in 2012 for a whopping £32.8m and is currently under contract until 2017.
It is thought that the Spain star will cost the Gunners at least £28m in order to lure him away from the Allianz Arena.
They may well face competition from fellow Premier League club Manchester City who have also been credited with an interest in the player who was also a rumoured target under former boss Roberto Mancini.
However with City facing the possibility of a daunting £50m fine for breach of Financial Fair Play any transfer plans Manuel Pellegrini had may well be threatened.
