Goalkeeper Courtois uncertain over future

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he is unsure where he will be next season, but said that he must be playing regular football, Sky Sports has reported.

The Belgian’s loan deal with Atletico Madrid comes to an end after Saturday’s Champions League final with city rivals Real, and will return to Chelsea. However, it is still unclear whether he will be the first-choice goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge next season or return to the Vicente Calderon for a fourth season in Spain.

Courtois is yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea since joining in the summer of 2011, but some reports have suggested that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is considering asking current No.1 Petr cech to step aside in favour of the 22-year-old.

And Courtois himself admits that he is does not know where he will be playing his football next season, but insists he wants to be playing regularly. “I am not sure yet what happens next season,” said Courtois

“It is a great feeling to be champions of Spain. We have the Champions League final next week and then the World Cup. Now is not the time to think about my future. If I move somewhere, I will play. At my age, the most important thing for me, and what I want to do, is to play.

“Petr is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he won the Golden Glove in the Premier League this season. I have a lot of respect for him. I have two years [left on my] contract with Chelsea, so we will see what they decide.”
