Manchester United are now in pole position in the race to sign Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, and are set to meet his £12m buyout clause, according to Talksport.
With Reds boss Brendan Rodgers having not resumed his interest, Konoplyanka is now open to a move to their bitter rivals despite their non-participation in next season’s Champions League, with new boss Louis van Gaal keen to bring him to Old Trafford.
Tottenham were also rumoured to be interested in the player, but their new manager Mauricio Pochettino is currently pursuing other targets, opening the door for Man Utd to make their move.
The Red Devils are looking for a new winger this summer, due to the inconsistent form of Nani and Ashley Young, and the uncertain future of youngster Wilfried Zaha, who spent the second half of this season on loan at Cardiff City.
