Lallana ‘wants to keep progressing’ with Southampton

Adam Lallana has pledged his future to Southampton despite being linked with a move to Liverpool, ESPN has reported.

The Reds are said to be leading the chase for the England international, with Manchester United and Chelsea also in the hunt, ESPN have claimed, and a fee of £20m mooted.

But speaking at Southampton’s end of season awards, Lallana suggested he saw his future at St. Mary’s. “The club means the world to me. I’ve been here since I was 12 and I want to keep progressing with the club,” Lallana said. “I’ve got a great relationship with the fans. We’ve been on a journey, and this is the icing on the cake.”

Lallana was named Players’ Player of the Season, Fans’ Player of the Season and Away Travel Club Player of the Season, while his solo goal against Hull City was voted the club’s Goal of the Season.

Southampton are currently eighth in the Premier League table and can finish no higher or lower, with Newcastle six points behind and Manchester United eight points in front. The Saints play the Red Devils on Sunday.

Lallana broke into the England set-up this season and is expected to be part of Roy Hodgson’s 23-man party to go to Brazil this summer.
