Lampard wants Chelsea stay

Frank Lampard hopes he can agree a new contract with Chelsea after the England midfielder’s deal expired at the end of the season, ESPN has reported.

Lampard has been at Chelsea since 2001 but he appears to be on the move this summer, although he has admitted that retirement has crossed his mind.

“I don’t know if I’ll be at Chelsea next season,” Lampard said. “I’d like to carry on for two or three more years but it would be good to end on a high.

“So, if that means it all ends tomorrow, I wouldn’t have any regrets,” he added. “You know your shelf-life, so I started to mentally prepare when I hit 30. I ‘ve been doing this for a long time, so there’s a part of me that’s looking forward to the future.”

Lampard made 41 appearances for the Blues last season, scoring eight goals, and has been included in England’s squad for the World Cup. The 35-year-old has made 649 appearances for Chelsea in his 13 years at the club, having moved to Stamford Bridge from West Ham.
