Man City can handle title pressure, says Manuel Pellegrini

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has said that his side can handle the pressure as they look to win their second Premier League title in three years, Sky Sports reports.

Manchester City face Aston Villa on Wednesday at the Etihad and a point would put them above Liverpool at the top of the table, following the Reds 3-3 capitulation at Crystal Palace.

Pellegrini is now confident that his side can secure the title as they are fully in control with just two games remaining.

“We have experienced players, they’ve been in a similar situation two years ago,” he said. “We have the pressure to win, but we’ve had it the whole year.

“From the beginning of the season, I always said that this team wants to win the title. Now we will try to do it.”

Despite being so close to sealing a Premier League title win, the Chilean has refused to think about the impending glory and instead insists that he is fully focused on the task at hand at Villa.

The 60-year-old has been well aware of the unexpected results that have happened in the title race this season, including Villa’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea, and is wary of any possible slip-ups.

“I did not watch Liverpool on Monday as I was watching videos of our opponents tonight,” he said.

“The only way to continue in our position is to win the three points and after that we can analyse all the other things when the race is over.

“If I try to be calm, it’s because I think it’s the best way for the players to play these two games, but I don’t want to talk about the title race now.”
