Van Gaal is the man United have chosen to become David Moyes successor and it was thought Chief Executive Ed Woodward had been hoping to confirm this by the end of the week.
But it now appears the champions will now wait until the end of the season before announcing the Dutchman as their next boss, who has reportedly signed a deal worth around £7m a season, and will take charge after managing the Netherlands at this summer’s World Cup for the last time.
It is also believed that while Van Gaal will be focusing his on the World cup from now until its end he has already given a list of his desired transfer targets to Woodward, and will leave it up to him to strengthen the squad in his absence.
