Negredo vows to repay fans’ faith

Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo has vowed to the club’s fans that he will repay their support in the title run-in, according to Mcfc.com.

The forward joined from Sevilla last summer and has been welcomed with open arms at the Etihad where he has sparkled in his first season at the club.

The 28-year-old has formed a dangerous partnership with Sergio Aguero which has been a big reason for City’s title challenge but the goals have dried up of late as ‘the beast’ has struggled with injury.

“I have been delighted with the way the fans accepted me from the moment I arrived.

“I will be fighting hard to return their support and I appreciate how much they have supported me.”

Manuel Pellegrini’s side now have their title destiny in their own hands once again and could make a late surge with just three games to play.

The Spaniard has revealed that he is fit and raring to go and hopes to make an impact in City’s final challenge for their second title in three years.

“I settled in right from the word go although initially my time on the pitch was limited. But I continued to work hard and when I got the chance I started to score goals,” added Negredo.

“I was able to bring something to the party in terms of my performances. I then picked up a shoulder injury which affected things. We were struggling up front suffering from injuries and needed all the support we could get.

“I was playing games when I wasn’t fully fit – but things have turned around now and I am fit again. I am not featuring as regularly as before.

“I did that by working hard on the training field and scoring goals when I got my chance. Hopefully that’s what will happen again. It’s just a case of working as hard as I can to get as many minutes on the pitch as possible to repay their faith in me.”
