Manuel Pellegrini has commended Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart for his form during the Premier League title race, ESPN
Hart had been dropped earlier in the season by Pellegrini after a series of mistakes but returned to the team and came to form in recent weeks. The England international made a number of important saves against Everton on Saturday to help City win 3-2, keeping out one Steven Naismith effort to preserve City’s 2-1 lead moments before Edin Dzeko scored to make it 3-1.
“Of course, not only [against Everton] but in the second half of the season, Joe has had a very good performance,” Pellegrini said. “One of the good things that we did this year was to talk to him and sit him [out] some games because he was in a very bad moment but he reacted as a professional player, the number one in England.”
City are level on points with Liverpool at the top of the table with both teams having played 36 times. But Liverpool play away at Crystal Palace tonight while City host Aston Villa on Wednesday, prior to the league’s climax next Sunday. Should City win both against Villa and at home to West Ham, they will claim a second title in two years.
