Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has praised Everton’s progress under Roberto Martinez and admits that he is wary of the side he faces on Saturday, according to Sky
The Sky Blues travel to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon looking for all three points as they look to win a second title in three years.
Everton will also be desperate for points as they aim to keep the pressure on Arsenal in the race for fourth place and a Champions League spot for next season.
“I think Everton at any stage of the season will always be a difficult team,” said the Chilean.
“They play very well, Roberto (Martinez) is doing a very good job there, the same way he did before at Wigan. He is playing for Champions League, Europa League.
“We don’t expect anything at Everton. We are sure we are going to have a very tough game there.”
The matchup is a potentially difficult one for Everton fans as a win against Manchester City could result in handing local rivals Liverpool the Premier League title.
Despite the possible bittersweet victory, Pellegrini has dismissed the speculation and believes the Toffees will be trying to win the game.
“The feeling outside will not decide the match. I think the Everton players will try to win the game,” added the 60-year-old.
