Suarez rules out summer Liverpool exit

Luis Suarez has said he will not leave Liverpool this summer because he is happy with the club and his family enjoys living in the city, ESPN has reported.

A year ago Suarez agitated for a move away from Anfield, with Arsenal making an offer that they believed would trigger a release clause in his contract, and speculation linking the Uruguay international with a switch to Real Madrid is still rife.

But the PFA Player of the Year has told a Uruguayan television station that he will be a Liverpool player at the start of next season, and his mind is focused on the title race. “I’m very happy here and my family is happy here,” Suarez said.

“Don’t worry. Nothing is going to happen to me. If we could win the Premier League and bring the trophy home it would be incredible, a dream come true.”

Liverpool are top of the table with a two-point lead over Chelsea and a three-point lead over Manchester City. But City’s game in hand means they are considered favourites after the Reds were beaten by Chelsea in their last outing.

“We are hoping City loses some points but in the Premier League you never know, anything is possible,” Suarez added. “Now we have to win the next two games and it is not going to be easy.

“I’m still upset [about losing to Chelsea], it was so frustrating, we couldn’t find spaces and we made a mistake and it was hard to deal with. We knew the game was going to be hard and tight but it was frustrating when they were using up time.

“I was upset because of our mistake; we all got nervous and lost control. It was impossible to find spaces to get in.”
