Tottenham Hotspur look set to make an offer for Porto’s star striker Jackson Martinez come the end of the season as they target a renewed challenge for the Champions League places next season, the Portuguese newspaper ABola
The Colombian international is regarded as one of the best strikers around in Europe and was believed to be heading for the Porto exit last season but stayed – and now is widely expected to leave this time round.
The striker’s agent has reportedly flown to England this week in order to speak to clubs, and while Chelsea and Arsenal have all been credited with interest it appears Spurs are currently in pole position to make an offer.
It is thought Chairman Daniel Levy met with Martinez’s representatives about a possible switch to White Hart Lane and an offer worth £18m is now set to be made.
Martinez has enjoyed a prolific two years in Portugal, scoring 26 goals in 30 league appearances in his debut season before 18 goals in 27 this term, boasting an impressive total of 58 in 86 appearances in all competitions for the club.
