Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has emerged as a major transfer target for Valencia, with the Spanish club ready to offer £20m for his services, according to the Daily
Dzeko, who will represent Bosnia & Herzegovina at the World Cup finals this summer, has not yet been offered a new contract with the Premier League champions, despite his current deal set to run out at the end of next season.
Valencia are unable to offer Dzeko the chance of playing in the Champions League next season, but have recently been taken over by Singaporean businessman Peter Lim, who sees the 28-year-old as a potentially key signing in his rebuilding job, with the club looking to return to challenging for the La Liga title, which they last won in 2004.
He could also be tempted by a guaranteed starting place, which he has been unable to completely nail down during his three and-a-half year stay at the Etihad Stadium, with Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo among those providing stiff competition for places.
Valencia would also be willing to offer Dzeko a four year contract whereas Man City are only prepared to hand him a two-year deal as things stand. Any deal which takes Dzeko to the Mestalla is likely to rise to £25 with add-ons.
