West Brom boss Pepe Mel wants to add Arsenal striker Joel Campbell to the ranks at the Hawthorns if he is able to secure his job after the end of the season, reports The
Campbell spent last season playing under Mel on loan at Real Betis, and the 51-year-old is keen on a reunion when the forward’s loan at Greek side Olympiacos comes to an end.
The 21-year-old is expected to take part in the World Cup in Brazil this summer for his native Costa Rica, and Mel hopes that he can tempt Arsenal into letting him move to their fellow Premier League outfit following the tournament’s conclusion.
Speaking ahead of his Baggies’ side taking on the Gunners on Sunday, Mel confirmed that he would be interested in pairing up with the forward, who is yet to make a first team appearance for the north Londoners, once again.
He said: “Joel Campbell was a player with me at Betis, a very good player and it is possible for the future at West Brom.
“He’s a good player for West Brom. He could play here if I stay here.”
