Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will miss the rest of the World Cup, according to reports in Argentina.
Aguero was stretchered off in the match against the Nigerians, to be replaced by Ezequiel Lavezzi, and if the severity of the injury is confirmed leaves the World Cup without scoring. Thus far all bar two of Argentina’s World Cup goals have been scored by Lionel Messi – Bosnia-Herzegovina conceded an own goal in the opening game while Marcos Rojo netted against Nigeria.
The 26-year-old Aguero has made 51 appearances for his country, scoring 21 goals, and last season netted 28 goals in 34 games for his club as City claimed the Premier League title. He has been at City since 2011, scoring 75 times in 122 appearances, winning the title twice after moving to the club from Atletico Madrid.
