Arsenal are showing an interest in Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, whose talks over a new contract with the Blues have broken down in recent weeks, according to the Daily
As things stand, a deal which would see Ivanovic move across London to the Emirates Stadium looks highly unlikely, with the two clubs some way apart over the valuation of the player. Ivanovic would also be set to command wages of up to £150,000.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is looking to add more options to his defensive line, with Thomas Vermaelen heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer due to his lack of first-team football. However, the 64-year-old is unlikely to want to match Chelsea’s current asking price of £15m.
Ivanovic has been a consistent performer at the back during six years at Stamford Bridge. Signed by current Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2008, he has gone to make 269 appearances and score 25 goals, helping to win the Premier League, the Champions League, the Europa League and three FA Cup winners’ medals.
