Milan striker Mario Balotelli has been added to Arsenal’s list of summer targets, but the Gunners have ruled out the possibility of a return for former captain Cesc Fabregas, according to the Daily
Fabregas appears set to leave Barcelona this summer, three seasons after leaving Arsenal for the Nou Camp. He has been linked with Manchester United as well as his former club, but the Gunners have decided to strengthen other areas of the team.
Manager Arsene Wenger has identified the club’s attack as an area to improve on, with Olivier Giroud the only out-and-out striker currently in favour at the Emirates Stadium. Wenger, who has recently signed a new contract, has drawn up a shortlist of potential signings, one which includes the 23-year-old Balotelli.
Queens Park Rangers star Loic Remy is reportedly close to joining, but Arsenal have registered an interest in Balotelli, who looks set to leave Milan over the coming months.
The Italian is admired by Wenger, but it remains to be seen if he or the club would be willing to take on Balotelli’s off-field baggage. Milan are willing to cash in on Balotelli, who they signed from Manchester City for £24m in January 2013. In that time, he has scored an impressive 30 goals in 54 games in a struggling Milan side.
