Inter have ended their pursuit of Tottenham playmaker Erik Lamela after the North London club refused to sell their record signing, Goal.com
Signed for £30m from Roma last summer, Lamela endured an immensely frustrating first season at White Hart Lane, initially struggling to settle in his new surroundings and being left out of the team, before missing the final months of the season due to injury.
Lamela’s struggles had seen him linked with a move back to Italy, but it has emerged that Tottenham and new manager Mauricio Pochettino are unwilling to sell the youngster, who was also a victim of the amount of competition for places in attacking areas last season.
Inter are looking to overhaul their squad this summer to return to being title contenders in Serie A. In May, they admitted their interest in Lamela, but now their sporting director Piero Ausilio has revealed that Tottenham are unwilling to sell. He said: “Lamela is a dream that we haven’t been given a chance to realise, simply because Tottenham don’t want to put him on the market.”
