Ronald Koeman is expected to be appointed the new manager of Southampton, according to Sky
The Saints are looking for a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, who resigned at the end of the season to take over from Tim Sherwood at Tottenham Hotspur. Ronald Koeman was most recently in charge at Feyenoord while Erwin Koeman left RCK Waalwijk this summer.
Ronald’s agent confirmed the former Netherlands international’s interest in the vacancy. “He wants to make a next step in his career at an ambitious club with possibilities. Southampton fits in that profile,” Guido Albers told Voetbal International.
“Pochettino made a solid base and Ronald is the ideal candidate to build the squad from there,” he added.
Kees Ploegsma, who represents Erwin, added: “It’s correct that there are talks. They want Ronald to be manager and his brother Erwin as his assistant.”
Ronald Koeman has also managed Ajax, Benfica, PSV Eindhoven and Valencia and won 78 caps for his country. Erwin Koeman, a year older than Ronald, played 31 times for the Oranje and previously coached the Hungary national team, among other postings.
