Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt has said that ‘great things’ will happen at Manchester United next season with Louis van Gaal to take charge, ESPN
After the World Cup in Brazil, van Gaal will leave his post as manager of the Netherlands to take over the reins at Old Trafford and replace David Moyes as boss. Once he arrives, he is expected to oversee a number of key signings with the intention of helping the club re-establish themselves as title contenders.
And Kuyt, who is part of van Gaal’s Dutch squad, believes that the 62-year-old will make an immediate impact at Old Trafford. He said: “Van Gaal has an open style of management. He has a clear idea of what footballers need in training and outside of training. If you want something to change, his door is open – but you have to have a very good argument.”
Kuyt, 33, also tipped van Gaal as a man who can get the best out of striker Robin van Persie. He added: “I think Robin van Persie is an amazing player. He has shown that at United. Unfortunately he was injured too many times last season but I’m sure that, with Van Gaal and Robin together, great things are going to happen at United.’
