Jose Mourinho has welcomed the arrival at Chelsea of new boy Cesc Fabregas, ESPN
Former Arsenal captain Fabregas left Barcelona earlier this month to return to the Premier League with the Blues after the Gunners decided not to exercise their first option on his signature, a clause included in the deal that took him back to Camp Nou in 2011.
He first moved to England as a teenager, leaving Barca without playing a first team game, and made more than 200 appearances under Arsene Wenger before his departure three years ago.
Mourinho has said that he feels his side need Fabregas’ qualities and expects the 27-year-old to work hard in training to show his worth. “I think he is the kind of player who will come and train for a couple of weeks and be ready to prove himself,” the Portuguese said.
“He is the kind of player we need. Not just for his qualities as a player but also his competitive personality,” Mourinho continued. “He is a player in the best years of his career – 26, 27, 28. He knows England well, he knows the Premiership well, so he will not need time to adapt.”
