Nasri set for new Man City deal

Manchester City are hoping Samir Nasri will sign a new deal at the Premier League champions in the near future, The Guardianunderstands.

Nasri, who was controversially left out of the French World Cup squad, is expected to sign a five year deal when he returns home from holiday. The 26 year old is believed to be the first of a host of City players to sign extensions with Joe Hart, Edin Dzeko, James Milner and Aleksandar Kolarov all expected to sign after the World Cup.

Nasri has flourished under Manuel Pellegrini and had a fine season, scoring seven goals including crucial strikes against Sunderland in the League Cup final and West Ham on the final day of the season to clinch the Premier League title.

This is a big difference from a year ago when Nasri and former City manager Roberto Mancini had a number of high profile bust-ups with Mancini even saying that he wanted to punch Nasri for some of his performances.

Nasri, who joined from Arsenal for £24m in 2011, said of the difference between them: “The atmosphere in the dressing room. We’ve been friends this year. There are no egos. It was a pleasure to work with him.”
