Ronaldo injury concern for Portugal

Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo’s chances of playing again at this World Cup are hanging in the balance after reports from Brazil suggested he could miss the rest of the tournament due to injury, writes the Metro.

The Ballon D’Or winner’s preparations for the World Cup have been blighted by injuries to his knee and thigh, and he was again forced to limp out of training on Wednesday with an ice pack strapped to his leg, with the 29-year-old receiving treatment for the rest of the session.

Ronaldo struggled to make a significant impact against Germany in his side’s opening match, which ended in a 4-0 defeat. Portugal’s next match is against the United States on Sunday evening, and the Real Madrid man now faces a race against time to be fit.

Spanish reports have also suggested that Ronaldo ignored the advice of doctors to play against Germany, and since then he has been warned that his career could be under threat if he does not rest for two months.
