Chelsea and Spain striker Fernando Torres has welcomed reports Cesc Fabregas is to return to the Premier League from Barcelona with the Blues, and according to EPSN
Torres said that if Jose Mourinho and the rest of the Chelsea set-up can prove to Fabregas how much he is wanted at Stamford Bridge, then they will get the best out of the World Cup winner. “Big players are always good signings,” he told Marca. We know Cesc, he knows the division and was always among the top players when he was at Arsenal. He likes to play good football and will offer ball control, cutting edge, and goals.
“If he’s made to feel important, like a leader – like when he was at Arsenal – he can drive the team on and he’s a type of player Chelsea don’t have right now,” Torres added.
Torres has been a Chelsea player since a January 2011 move from Liverpool, having previously played for Atletico Madrid. Both he and Fabregas have been involved in Spain’s recent international triumphs, winning two European Championships and the World Cup, and both are in the squad for this summer’s tournament in Brazil.
Fabregas could be joined at Chelsea by another Spain international, Diego Costa, who is said to have completed a medical for a move from Atletico. “He is a strong player who is good with his back to goal, someone who can mix it with defenders and offer another outlet when you’re having a hard time in possession,” Torres said. “He has different attributes to our other attacking players, so he gives the coach a different option.”
Torres already has one international colleague at Chelsea – Cesar Azpilicueta, the right-back, who is another member of La Roja’s 23-man party.
