Manager Arsene Wenger has also reportedly told current Arsenal player Mesut Ozil to speak to Khedira about life in North London. The Frenchman is highly keen to add a natural holding midfield player to his squad this summer to protect his defence, and he has targeted the Germany international as well as Southampton’s Morgan Scheiderlin and Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender.
Any deal is unlikely to be completed until the 27-year-old returns from the World Cup in Brazil, where his side take on France in the quarter-finals on Friday. He has now been a Real Madrid player for four years, winning the La Liga title and the Champions League. During that time, he has made 144 appearances, scoring nine goals.
