Chelsea’s Cech linked with French move

Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco have both been linked with Chelsea goalkeeper Petr ?ech, according to ESPN.

The 32-year-old stopper is under contract at Stamford Bridge for another two years, and has not expressed any plans or desires to leave, but enquires have been made from the other side of the English Channel.

?ech’s agent Viktor Kolar confirmed: “Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest and we have also communicated with Monaco.”

?ech has previous experience of French football after spending two seasons with Stade Rennais before his £7 million move to Chelsea in 2004.

The Czech Republic international has enjoyed a trophy-laden, record-breaking 10 years with Chelsea, establishing himself as one of the most highly regarded goalkeepers in world football. He has made over 400 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, and holds the club record for the most clean sheets. He also for a time held the Premier League record for longest time without conceding a goal – 1,025 minutes – although this was later surpassed by Manchester United’s Edwin van der Sar.

In recent years though there have been questions over his form, and he could now face stiff competition for the Chelsea number 1 shirt. Belgian star Thibaut Courtois is set to return to Stamford Bridge after spending three years on loan with Atletico Madrid. Courtois has yet to make a Chelsea appearance after signing from Genk 2011, but his performances in this year’s World Cup make him a strong challenger for ?ech’s place.
