Liverpool are close to completing the signings of Lille striker Divock Origi and Benfica winger Lazar Markovic in a £35m double swoop, BBC
The 19-year-old Origi has just returned from the World Cup after helping Belgium to the quarter-finals. He came off the bench to score the winner against Russia in the group stage, a contribution which earned him a place in the starting XI ahead of Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
His performances in Brazil have led to rumours of a move to the Premier League, and Liverpool have appeared too beat off interest from Tottenham, agreeing a deal with Lille to sign the youngster, with a fee of around £10m to be paid over the course of the week. Personal terms are also still to be agreed.
The Reds are also in advanced talks to sign Markovic, who was an impressive performer as Benfica won the Portuguese Superliga last season with an unbeaten record. The 20-year-old Serb is expected to cost around £25m, and he would arrive having scored seven goals in 48 outings for Jorge Jesus’ side.
All this takes place while Liverpool prepare to sell Luis Suarez to Barcelona, while they have already signed three players this summer, with the arrivals of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Emre Can.
