Liverpool will return with an improved offer for Swansea City left-back Ben Davies, ESPN
It’s claimed that the Reds have already failed with an £8m approach, with Tottenham Hotspur also having a bid of around that level turned down. Spurs have ended their pursuit of the Wales international with Swansea holding out for more like £12m.
Liverpool had originally moved for Sevilla’s Spain international Alberto Moreno but are said to have cooled their interest after having a £16m offer rejected. Moreno is thought to be valued at £20m and while Brendan Rodgers could make a renewed effort for the player, his attention is now on Davies as an alternative.
Davies got into the Swansea first team in the 2012-13 season after an injury to Neil Taylor, never playing in the senior side under former Swans boss Rodgers. Davies has gone on to make 84 appearances for the Welsh club, scoring three goals, and has picked up 10 caps for his country.
Rodgers left Swansea for Liverpool in the summer of 2012, replacing Kenny Dalglish at Anfield. He was succeeded at the Liberty Stadium by Michael Laudrup, who has since been replaced by former Swansea defender Garry Monk.
