Wesley Sneijder could make a £15.9m move from Galatasaray to Manchester United amid reports Louis van Gaal wants to take the Netherlands playmaker with him to Old Trafford, according to ESPN.
Gala have confirmed they hope to keep the 30-year-old in Istanbul but admitted he can leave for €20m – just under £16m. “Sneijder is a good player. We want to keep him at Galatasaray,” the club’s president, Unal Aysal, said.
“If Galatasaray receive an offer of €20 million, we do not have the luxury of saying no. That is stipulated in the contract. All I can say is that if any club pays us €20 million and he wants to go, we can’t force him to stay because it is written in the contract.”
Galatasaray recently appointed former Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli to replace ex-Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, who was sacked at the end of the season. Aysal’s comments came at the press conference to confirm Prandelli in the post.
Sneijder began his career with Ajax and later moved to Real Madrid, before he was taken to Italy by Jose Mourinho, winning the Champions League under the current Chelsea boss.
