Newcastle United have agreed a fee believed to be £12m for French playmaker Remy Cabella, as they look set to finally land one of their long term targets, the Daily
Alan Pardew’s side have shown an interest in the France ace since their star man Yohan Cabaye left for Paris Saint Germain in a £20m deal in January, and the two clubs have been locked in talks all summer in the hopes of concluding a deal.
The Magpies had their initial bid rejected by Montpellier, with whom Cabella has been for five years, but after a second round of negotiations a deal looks likely to finally be agreed.
The 24-year-old will reportedly be offered wages of £50,000 a week and will become Pardew’s fourth signing of the summer.
He has already sealed deals for Siem De Jong, Jack Colback and Ayoze Perez.
Since turning professional at Montpellier in 2009, Cabella has made 97 appearances and scored 28 goals.
He was also selected as part of the French Squad at this summer’s World Cup, and saw them make it to the Quarter Finals where they lost to Germany 1-0.
