Ospina linked with Arsenal switch

Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina has been linked with a move to Arsenal, according to ESPN, as Arsene Wenger looks for a new goalkeeper.

Lukasz Fabianski left the Gunners at the end of the season, moving to Swansea City, and Wenger’s first target, David Marshall, proved too expensive. Cardiff City are said to have put a £10m price tag on the head of the Scotland international, forcing Wenger to look elsewhere.

Ospina, who impressed at the World Cup for Los Cafeteros, could be available from Nice for £3m. The 25-year-old has been at Nice since a 2008 move from Atletico Nacional and conceded four goals in five games during the tournament in Brazil.

Arsenal have already signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona in a £30m deal, and Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy is expected to follow after Bacary Sanga left the Emirates Stadium for Manchester City.

Debuchy could be joined by Atletico Madrid youngster Javi Banquillo, while Carl Jenkinson would be allowed to leave on loan.

Arsenal’s No.1 and Ospina’s potential rival, Wojciech Szczesny, has been with the London club since 2009, making more than 150 appearances, including 46 in all competitions last season.
