Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has confirmed that he would not be linking up with Louis van Gaal at Manchester United this summer, Sky
With Robben having produced some outstanding performances under van Gaal at the World Cup as the Netherlands finished in third place, there have been rumours in recent weeks that the 30-year-old could move to Old Trafford during the transfer window.
However, despite revealing that van Gaal did approach him over the possibility of joining Man Utd, Robben has confirmed that he will extend his stay with Bayern, where he has been since the summer of 2009.
After helping his country seal third place in the World Cup with a 3-0 win over hosts Brazil, Robben said: “I have a special bond with him (van Gaal). He is the most important coach in my career. (Moving to United) is not an option though. I will stay at Bayern Munich.”
Man Utd have already made two signings since van Gaal was confirmed as the club’s new manager back in May, with Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw having already completed moves to the 13-times Premier League champions.
