Swansea City left-back Ben Davies is to have a medical at Tottenham ahead of a likely move to White Hart Lane, BBC
The youngster has left Swansea’s pre-season tour of the United States to make the trip to North London, where he must also agree personal terms for the move to be completed. As part of the deal, attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson could be heading the other way, with the Icelander having joined Tottenham as a result of an impressive loan spell at the Liberty Stadium in 2012.
Spurs are also interested in signing Davies’ teammate Michel Vorm, with manager Mauricio Pochettino believing he can challenge current first choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris for a place in the starting XI. Vorm’s future has been under slight doubt since Lukasz Fabianski was signed from Arsenal earlier in the summer.
Davies has is an emerging talent and has impressed since being given his chance in the Swansea first team by Michael Laudrup, after regular left-back Neil Taylor sustained a long-term injury. Since Taylor’s return, however, he has kept his place in the side, and become a fixture in the Welsh national team.
He now looks set to become Pochettino’s first signing since arriving at Tottenham from Southampton in May. The club have beaten off interest on Liverpool to be on the brink of sealing the deal, and he looks poised to take on Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Danny Rose for the left-back slot at Spurs.
